Guided Wildlife Watching

The Wolf Lake area is a haven for wildlife. During the evenings, moose come out of the forest to forage in the water for food, and also to avoid predators and mosquitoes. Most of the time we are able to locate them, and observe them very closely in their native habitat.

We or one of our students would be most happy to guide you to the popular moose watching areas of the lake. Guests are encouraged to try "calling" moose after a few minutes of instruction.

Eagles are plentiful in the area, both Bald and Golden. Guests have also spotted osprey, swans, caribou, rarely bobcats and even more rarely the elusive Wolf. Bears are in the area however they do avoid human contact wherever possible. We have not had a bear sighting in the 10 years we have owned the lodge, but have seen evidence of them.
